FC Rapid București
Fotbal Club Rapid, commonly known as Rapid București or simply as Rapid, is a Romanian professional football club based in Bucharest that competes in the Liga I, the top tier of the Romanian league system. It was established in 1923 by employees of the Grivița railway workshops, under the name Asociația Culturală și Sportivă CFR. During its first half-century, Rapid București regularly contended for the league title, finishing as runners-up nine times before winning its first national championship in the 1966–67 season. After a period of fluctuating fortunes that included spells in the second division, Rapid claimed further league titles in the 1998–99 and 2002–03 seasons. A 2016 bankruptcy and dissolution led to the club being refounded, but it advanced through the lower leagues to return to the Liga I in 2021. Its domestic honours also include 13 Cupa României titles and four Supercupa României titles, making it the third-most decorated club in the country.
